Chris Forsyth & The Solar Motel Band
Chris Forsyth is a lauded guitarist, composer, and bandleader whose widescreen art-rock, fusing taut compositions and mercurial improvisations, has earned him a reputation as one of the most distinctive and critically acclaimed guitarists working today. In 2013, he assembled The Solar Motel Band, who quickly developed a reputation as an incredible live act, provoking comparisons to visionary artists such as Television, The Grateful Dead, Popol Vuh, Neil Young & Crazy Horse, and Richard Thompson. In 2016 he released the double LP The Rarity of Experience (No Quarter) to universal raves. Pitchfork called it “a near-perfect balance between 70s rock tradition and present day experimentation,” NPR Music named Forsyth “one of rock’s most lyrical guitar improvisors,” and the New York Times calls him “a scrappy and mystical historian… His music humanizes the element of control in rock classicism (and) turns it into a woolly but disciplined ritual.” No Quarter will release the new Solar Motel Band album Dreaming In The Non-Dream on August 25.

Dire Wolves
“Dire Wolves are a self-regenerating phenomenon. A perpetually evolving psychedelic unit, more than 20 individuals have passed through their gates, with the experience leaving its mark on each one of them. An aural experience, 'Fogged Out (Two)' shatters the barriers on what could be called a 'song', replacing them with conduits, with ripplets of sound.”- Clash Magazine

“It will not surprise you to find out that they play a loose and perpetually evolving brand of music that is probably most easily classified as psych, but with its trilling woodwinds and droning violins has more in common with the spiritual jazz of Alice Coltrane and Pharoah Sanders than the peaky wig-outs of, like, Iron Butterfly.”- FLOOD Magazine

“It’s a blast to hear a band head right off the rails the way Dire Wolves do on their new album… Excursions to Cloudland is exactly that—a journey towards the sun that spreads its space-rock gospel across four sick jam session.”- Self-Titled Magazine

“Clocking in at over 12 minutes, ‘Enter Quietly’ is a psychedelic wonderland filled with plaintive violins, groovy drums, woozy synths, and raucous electric guitar. Though it’s predominantly instrumental, listen closely and you’ll hear Dire Wolves singer Laura Naukkarinen’s otherworldly murmurings in the background, and if you’re a fan of The Incredible String Band, it won’t be hard to find something to love in this track.”- SF Weekly
