Britt Thomas & The Breaker Boys
Country-influenced rock n' roll is ever evolving into a whole new, yet somehow still nostalgic kind of vibe, and Britt Thomas & the Breaker Boys are putting their own spin on the genre, creating a narrative distinctly their own. With their debut self-titled EP release, mixed and mastered at I.V. Lab Studio, Chicago, this Pennsylvania/New Jersey hybrid of kindly refined punks are coming out of the gate with a batch of songs that are bound to hit home for all kinds of music fans with the urge to rock along to the sometimes crooning, other times reckless words of discontent in the modern age. Featuring Britt Thomas on vocals, rhythm and lead guitar, Ali Awan on lead guitar, Bill Coburn on bass, and Eric Kohlhofer on drums, the band of close friends has been involved with one another musically on several fronts for much of the last decade in the alternative music scene of Philadelphia. When this project first began coming together in a South Philly basement in 2016, it was immediately apparent how well their collective experience would serve to unite them in songwriting that felt real, raw, and catchy in a way that was not quite like anything else they'd been hearing around town.

The band name comes from Thomas's native coal-country family roots. Coburn did some digging into the history of Britt's hometown of Wilkes-Barre, PA, and came to find that she had ancestors in the coal business. She and her friends had also been known to trespass in the old abandoned coal breakers which were left like a seedy playground of ruins for the local kids looking for trouble. The band was struck by the name's semblance to one of their biggest influences, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.

Following this first release, Britt & the Breaker Boys plan to tour the US and continue working on an upcoming full-length album.
